President's Message
Greetings and Welcome to the San Francisco Bay Area Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA) website. Now that August is behind us, I hope the summer break enabled all to refresh and recharge at some point. Now we look to the Fall and prepare our efforts to create possibilities for the remainder of the year for those whom we assist and for ourselves.
SF EAPA is affiliated with the International EAPA which is located in Virginia. In fact, we are prideful that SF EAPA was the first chapter of EAPA.
This year EAPA hosts its 40th Anniversary EAP World Conference in Denver, CO beginning with pre-conference sessions on October 25 and 26, and the Conference opening on October 27 and continuing through October 29.
This is the largest gathering of EAP Professionals from around the world. The conference will draw attendees, participants and presenters from between 30 to 40 countries. I highly encourage all to consider attending some of, if not all, the 2011 World EAP Conference, depending on your schedules. It is in Denver, only 2 hrs away by airplane, and the Denver CO chapter is quite active, so I am sure they have planned a great conference. Locally, John Dillon Riley, PhD, Manager of Chevron Corporation, San Ramon, CA Wellness Resources Department, within their Global Health and Medical Services, is the Conference Opening Keynote presenter on October 27.
I extend an invitation to you to attend our Chapter meetings which are held the second Tuesday of each month (except in August when there is no meeting) at Sinbad’s Restaurant, Pier 2 on the Embarcadero in San Francisco, near the famed Ferry Building. Luncheon seminar registration and networking begins at 11:30am and the Chapter meeting and presentation begins at 12:00noon till 1:30pm.
